An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) measures the energy efficiency of a property and rates it on a sliding scale depending on how efficient it is. Ratings are from A-G with A being the most efficient and G being the least.

If you're looking to sell your home, then you'll need an EPC assessment completed to go alongside your listing to show potential buyers how energy efficient the home is. If you're a landlord, it's a legal requirement to have an up-to-date Energy Performance Certificate and recent rules mean that the property has to meet Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) of an E rating or above in order to comply with regulations.
